Panasonic Connect designed the NPM-VF odd-form solution to address increasing global labor costs and manual assembly complexity. Built upon the award-winning NPM platform, this advanced system introduces innovative solutions to reduce labor requirements and operational costs while boosting productivity, enhancing versatility, and ensuring superior quality through-hole and odd-form component insertions.

Odd-form automation requires much more than standard placement. The NPM-VF integrates an active, under-board clinch mechanism that traverses the entire population area. Adopted from Panasonic’s pioneering through-hole technology, the active clinch system securely grips various through-hole lead diameters at multiple rotations. When not required, the clinch also functions as localized board support for snap-in and press-fit components, simplifying odd-form assembly, reducing labor overhead, and minimizing resource challenges.

Body Chuck: Engineered for gripping large odd-form devices lacking a standard pick surface (e.g., power transformers).
Lead Chuck: Specifically designed for gripping radial lead through-hole devices (e.g., electrolytic capacitors).
Swing Nozzle: Enables the precise insertion of through-hole devices oriented differently in packaging than their insertion orientation.
Reduces labor costs, simplifies complex manual assembly, and increases overall production quality.
